Floods Area Map For Preventive Mitigation Of Tide Floods Disaster In Semarang

Abstract

The Floods on Semarang it caused by subsidence (0,1 – 8,5 cm/ year), the changed of landuses in coastal area, and high mean sea level in consequence of global warming.

Until now, no one have done the serious reaserch about it. Eventhough this disaster have been happened by 25 years. In 2003 floods have suffused North Semarang and West Semarang about 1.200 hectare dwelt by 8.000 citizen people.
People who incurred direct impact from these disaster have to spend money about Rp.5.000.000,- every 5 year for the expanse of high of house foundation.

Preventive action should be done in face of this continues disaster. Flood area map is intended to guidance of people who lived in flood area. So, they can alert about the floods.

This reaserch used the approach of elevation model, and it called Digital Elevation Model (DEM). DEM can depict the area to be suffused by sea water when rob flood happened, that is by overlay between low elevation area and maximum high water level. Calibration between land subsidence velocity data, MSL data, and elevation data, these flood area map could be made.

These map divided into 3 zone, that is zona 1 (red colour) designate the area with the dangerous crisis level. Zona 2 (yellow colour) designate the area with the small intensity of floods level. And the last is zona 3 (green colour) designate the area with the safety level from tide floods disaster.
